A. Penyetaraan Reaksi Redoks
       Pada dasarnya menyetarakan reaksi yakni menyetimbangkan atau menyamakan jumlah atom dan muatannya. Untuk reaksi redoks yang sederhana, sanggup menebak koefisien masing-masing secara langsung, sedangkan reaksi redok s yang rumit sanggup disetarakan dengan metode setengah reaksi dan metode bilangan oksidasi.
 

B. Potensial Elektrode


        Potensial elektroda standar mengatakan urutan kecenderungan untuk mengalami reduksi, sehingga dikenal sebagai potensial reduksi standar. Bila ion logam dalam sel lebih gampang mengalami reduksi dibanding Ion H+, maka potensial elektroda logam tersebut lebih besar dari potensial elektroda hidrogen sehingga bertanda positif. Bila elektroda logam lebih gampang mengalami oksidasi dibandingkan elektroda hidrogen, maka potensial elektrodanya lebih kecil dibandingkan potensial elektroda hidrogen sehingga bertanda negatif. Pada dasarnya menyetarakan reaksi yakni menyetimbangkan atau menyamakan jumlah atom dan muatannya. Untuk reaksi redoks yang sederhana, sanggup menebak koefisien masing-masing secara langsung, sedangkan reaksi redoks yang rumit sanggup disetarakan dengan metode setengah reaksi dan metode bilangan oksidasi.
